I feel that the Homestuck fandom is overlooking something.

“dad” is easily the most confusing character in homestuck, for me.  where did he even come from?  way i see it is, in the original kids’ session, john ecto-created everyone and they were sent back in time to their respective destinations and eras.  dad was not part of this group.  the relationships between the kids and their guardians, meaning john/nanna, jade/grandpa, dave/bro, and rose/mom, were not established through any kind of union or birthing on earth.  the kids fell out of the sky on meteors, you know?  (the latest jane update wow, lol.)

but dad.  he was clearly referred to as nanna’s son when john glimpsed them via the monitor in the ecto lab.  “An old woman is escorted by her son on a lovely day. A target has been locked over the gentleman’s mother.”

(A)  then john will be jane’s grandpa?

(B)  who was “dad’s” father?

©  if (A) is true and (B) is relevant, who is jane’s dad’s mother?!

exactly!! i was super excited about the guardians and didn’t even notice the conspicuous absence of dad until i realized, oh man, dad actually isn’t john’s guardian?

I mean, he’s introduced as such and the according parental-strife done with him, yet it’s nanna that ends up being the guardian?

also, if they’re all fifteen and a half, why is jane and… oh wow, grandpa harley, too, significantly older than mom and bro?

and so, the point being raised: if john and jade have an extra generation than dave and rose, and whether their partners are going to have significance? also, most people assume jane’s dad is john, yet in jake’s letter to john he calls jade his grandmother.

i would try to offer some ideas, but all i have is

it is not weird at all for a stranger to reply to this!  actually, since i don’t really know anyone on tumblr yet, my suggestion to “DISCUSS” was in fact aimed solely at strangers, lol.

but yeah.  with jade being heavily implied to be jake’s grandmother, i feel like it would be reasonable to say that so far, the time of impacts for each character’s meteor has been parallel to that of the characters in the original universe.  but then again jade is only one of the four kids, and there’s no rule that states that all of them must be parallel.  it’s still difficult to say that what jane has said about her father has in any way implied that her dad is not john.  confusing!

i think purely because of jade’s [implied] character role, i’m leaning toward the assumption that john is jane’s grandfather.  who knows, though!  i still may end up having to redo the drawing i just posted, lol.  OTL

Animation! Hopefully this animates and I’m not just giving the internet a static image to stare at. Been working on this between drawings for the past few weeks! I like action sequences. I’ve never animated anything like this so I thought I’d give it a try, and then why not make it Homestuck. I guess he’s fighting some post-lusus-prototype enemies during hivebent.
